I'm preparing to build my first proper gaming PC in the Netherlands after years of using a roughly €500 all-in-one PC and cloud gaming. My goal is high-refresh 1440p gaming for AAA games, competitive shooters, and future releases. The €2,000 budget includes a monitor, but I already have a mouse, keyboard, and headset.
My current parts list is:

- Memory: 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 — €539

- Case: Montech XR — €54.90

The estimated total is about €1,946–€2,032. Is this a balanced build and good value, or are there obvious compatibility issues, bottlenecks, or better alternatives for the money?

You may be able to fit a faster platform and graphics card into the same budget by shopping around. A Ryzen 5 9600X, an affordable B850 board, and an RX 9070 XT can make sense if you find good prices. The suggested parts list also used a cheaper 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit and a less expensive 1440p high-refresh monitor, leaving room for the GPU upgrade. Before ordering, double-check the memory and SSD prices in your list, since €539 for 32GB of DDR5 and €177.90 for a 1TB drive look unusually high. An 850W Gold power supply would provide additional headroom for the higher-end graphics card.
The RX 9070 would be a stronger choice if you can find the non-XT model near the price of the 7800 XT. It offers a worthwhile performance improvement and keeps 16GB of VRAM. For the motherboard, a Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX would also be worth considering if it is cheaper and has the features you need.
The RX 9070 is currently around €640–€670 in the Netherlands, roughly €120–€150 more than the 7800 XT. I’m unsure whether the performance increase justifies that premium, or whether the 7800 XT is the better value option.
