Is This RX 6600 Worth Repairing After Damaging Other Components?

This RX 6600 has apparently taken out two motherboards and an NVMe drive, and there's visible melting or scorching around one of the mounting bolts. I'm wondering whether that damaged area could be replaced at home or if the card is beyond practical repair and should just be discarded. Is it worth trying to fix, or could any parts still be salvaged?

That kind of major scorch damage usually means the card is finished, especially since it has already damaged other hardware. Even if the problem is limited to one area, repairing it would probably cost more than replacing it with an equivalent card.

QuietMarble18: I wasnโ€™t able to identify the exact scorch mark in the picture, but I agree that a repair would likely be more expensive than buying another used or comparable card.

Technically, a specialist could potentially transplant the GPU core, memory chips, and other components onto a replacement PCB. That kind of work is generally reserved for expensive graphics cards and requires advanced board-repair equipment and skills. For an RX 6600, itโ€™s realistically not economical to repair, though someone might still buy it for parts or salvage the memory and other components.

I wouldnโ€™t install this card in another system. With a history of killing motherboards and an NVMe drive, the safest option is to retire it and treat it as a parts or scrap board rather than attempting a home repair.
