Hey everyone! I recently purchased a 34" Ultrawide OLED monitor with a resolution of 3440x1440, and I'm considering upgrading my 5070 GPU to a 5080 to better handle demanding games at that resolution. I have an opportunity to trade my 5070 along with an additional $450 for a used but fairly new 5080. The original asking price for the 5080 was $1000. I'm looking for your thoughts on this deal. Thanks!

From a market perspective, the price difference between the cheapest 5070 and 5080 is about $750 right now. So, yes, this seems like a fair deal for a 5080.
Definitely worth it if you can snag that price! They’re going for over $1000 typically. Just make sure the 5080 is in great condition before you finalize the deal.
It sounds like a decent deal, but remember that buying used comes with risks. Make sure to ask the seller for some sort of written guarantee to return the card if it has any issues. It’d also be smart to run some stress tests on it to check its performance.
This seems reasonable overall! You might not be getting a steal, but you’re definitely saving yourself the hassle of trying to sell your old card. As long as it’s working well, it’s a fair trade.
I just made a similar upgrade from a 4070 for similar reasons, and I say go for it! As long as it doesn’t stretch your budget too much, dive in and enjoy the performance boost. Just ask for benchmarks and maybe a 20-day return policy to be safe.
