I currently have an ASRock B450-F motherboard paired with a Ryzen 5800X3D CPU, a 3060 GPU with 12GB of VRAM, and 64GB of RAM. I'm considering whether it's worth upgrading to a B550 motherboard, especially since I don't plan on moving to AM5 anytime soon as I don't play any highly demanding games. I've noted that B550 boards support PCIe 4.0 and could potentially give me better RAM frequencies. I can find decent B550 boards for around $150 or less. So, I'm looking for advice on whether this upgrade is worthwhile or if I should just stick with my current setup for now.

Honestly, I don’t see the performance boost being worth the upgrade price. PCIe 4.0 isn’t a huge necessity for most GPUs, and you might want to look into whether you really need those faster speeds. If storage speed is critical for you, consider jumping to AM5 down the line instead.

I’m not super savvy with motherboards. Also, I should mention my RAM is rated for 3200 MHz but I’m only seeing around 2000 MHz. I tried enabling XMP but it didn’t work. Could this be a limitation with my old motherboard?
