Is upgrading from a Ryzen 7 1700 to a Ryzen 5 5600 worthwhile with an RTX 5060?

I recently upgraded my GPU to an RTX 5060 8GB and mainly play at 1080p, with some 3D work on the side. I had originally planned to build a completely new PC, but my old GPU died and the 5060 was the best option within my budget. Now I'm wondering whether my Ryzen 7 1700 will bottleneck it badly. A Ryzen 5 5600 or something in that price range is affordable right now. Would the performance difference be immediately noticeable, or would it make more sense to wait for AM5 or choose a stronger AM4 processor?

If the price difference is small, a 5600X is also a sensible drop-in upgrade, but the regular 5600 is already a great value. You don’t necessarily need to wait for AM5 unless you’re ready to replace the motherboard and memory too.

The Ryzen 5 5600 would be a major upgrade from the 1700. The much stronger per-core performance should make games feel noticeably smoother, and it should pair well with a 5060 at 1080p without being a serious bottleneck.
