I currently have a Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB of DDR4 memory, and a 16GB Radeon 9060 XT. I mainly use my PC for gaming, switching between single-player games and esports titles, and I do not use it for work. In my country, the Ryzen 7 5800X costs about $20 more than the Core i5-14600K, so after trading in my CPU I would pay less than $100 extra. I would also need a compatible Intel motherboard. Would moving to the i5-14600K or 14600KF provide a worthwhile gaming upgrade, or should I keep my current Ryzen system?

There is no major future CPU upgrade path left on AM4 besides the 5700X3D and 5800X3D, and those chips can be unusually expensive or difficult to find. If the 14600K plus a motherboard is genuinely cheaper than moving to an X3D platform, Intel is a reasonable value choice. Just make sure the board has an updated BIOS and adequate power delivery and cooling.
Check benchmarks for the exact games you play before deciding. In many story-focused games, the difference may be small because performance is often limited by the graphics card. Esports titles can benefit more from the 14600K, particularly if you are targeting very high refresh rates.
For gaming alone, I would not upgrade automatically from a 5800X unless you are seeing a CPU bottleneck or need higher minimum frame rates. The 14600K is faster overall, but the real-world improvement depends on resolution, refresh rate, and the games you play. If you are happy with current performance, saving the money or waiting for a newer platform may be the better move.
The 14600K/KF can be a noticeable step up from the 5800X, especially in CPU-heavy esports games, and it is also stronger in multithreaded workloads. Since it can run with DDR4, you may be able to reuse your memory, but remember to include the cost of a new motherboard. Compare the total platform cost rather than just the CPU prices.
The upgrade makes more sense if the motherboard and CPU together are still under your budget. Otherwise, the performance gain may not justify replacing a perfectly usable AM4 platform.
The 5800X3D can still be excellent for gaming, but paying around the same price as a newer platform is hard to justify. Local pricing should decide this more than brand loyalty.
