The RX 9070 XT looks like one of the more sensible upgrades right now. After selling the RX 6700 XT, you might be looking at roughly $500 out of pocket, depending on the card’s price and your local used market. It should provide a noticeable improvement at 4K while also giving you newer features, better ray tracing, and longer driver support. Beyond that class of card, the price-to-performance value becomes much harder to justify.
For the case limitation, use a parts comparison site’s graphics-card filters and set the maximum card length to 300mm. There are RX 9070 XT models under that limit, so you may not need a new case at all. Only move everything to a larger case if the specific GPU you want is unavailable in a shorter design or if you also need better cooling and airflow.
At 4K, the upgrade makes more sense than it would at 1440p because the GPU is doing most of the work. A suitable RX 9070 XT can offer a meaningful performance increase, although the exact gain will vary by game and settings. I wouldn’t upgrade just for the possibility of 120 FPS in every RPG, but it could give you more headroom for higher settings and smoother performance.
I’d consider changing TVs even if you keep the RX 6800 XT for now. The newer display’s VRR support should make dips below 60 FPS feel much smoother than they do on the older X950H. That may improve the experience more immediately than spending heavily on a new GPU.
