Is Upgrading My CPU Worth It for Better Gaming Performance?

Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my CPU from a Ryzen 9 9500X to either a Ryzen 7 9800X3D or a Ryzen 9 9950X3D. I currently have a powerful RTX 4080 Super and I'm mainly playing BF6. I'm curious if this upgrade will lead to a noticeable FPS increase, or if I should just stick with my current setup. What do you all think?

If you're gaming mostly at 4K or even 1440p, I doubt you'd see a significant performance boost since your RTX 4080 will be the main limiting factor. Unless you've got a top-tier GPU like the RTX 5090, an upgrade to an X3D CPU might not be worth it in your case.

Honestly, I don't think upgrading is necessary. The improvement in performance might not justify the cost and hassle of swapping out your CPU.

I agree! Unless you're hitting serious bottlenecks due to CPU during gaming, it seems like a waste.

For sure, if you are sensitive to 1% lows and mainly play high-paced games like BF6, then upgrading to the 9000X3D might help with smoother gameplay, up to 30% better performance in some scenarios. The 9800X3D is pretty similar to the 9950X, but still worth considering if you're looking for better experience.

That’s a solid point! If you can sell your current CPU and get the 9800X3D with minimal cost, it could be a smart move.
