Is Upgrading to an RTX 5070 Worth It with My i7 8700k?

Hey everyone! I'm thinking about upgrading from my RTX 2080 Super. I just got a 165Hz 1440p monitor, and I've noticed my 8GB of VRAM is getting maxed out. There's a brand new PNY RTX 5070 available for $600, but I think I could get it down to about $550. I'm aware that there might be around a 33% CPU bottleneck, especially since I'm planning to upgrade to a 7800X3D in the future. If I could sell my 2080 Super for $250, that makes the net upgrade cost about $300. Do you think it's a good idea to buy the RTX 5070 at $550? Will my i7 8700k handle it for a while? Also, will DLSS 4.5 help with the bottleneck?

Upgrading to the RTX 5070 is a solid choice! It's significantly faster than the 2080 Super, especially for gaming at 1440p where you'd want more VRAM. Bottlenecking can be misunderstood—yes, your CPU might hold some performance back, but in GPU-heavy games, you'll still see a big boost in performance. Focus on what type of games you play, and if most are GPU-heavy, this upgrade should be great for you!

I checked a bottleneck calculator, and it says it might be around a 20% CPU bottleneck with the RTX 5070, but honestly, I doubt the performance will be underwhelming. My CPU usually hits max about 55%. Just keep in mind that single-core performance matters too!
