Is upgrading to an RX 9070 worth it on my current i5-12400F setup?

I'm currently considering upgrading my GPU due to the rising prices, but I'm unsure if the RX 9070 would be beneficial given my existing hardware. My specs include an i5-12400F processor with an MSI PRO B660-A DDR4 motherboard, 16GB of DDR4 3000MHz RAM, and an RTX 3060 Ti GPU. I use a 650W PSU and play games at 1440p. I'm particularly concerned about CPU bottlenecks, as I've already noticed performance drops in certain games, especially in demanding scenes. My ideal target is stable 60 FPS at 1440p, preferably closer to 80-90 FPS when possible. Considering these factors, is it a good move to invest in an RX 9070 now, or would it be better to wait?

Honestly, you’ll likely be satisfied with the RX 9070. It should meet your performance needs, even if you’re not hitting ultra settings at 90+ FPS in every game. With FSR, you might even achieve better frame rates in some demanding titles without too much hassle.

You shouldn't worry too much about bottlenecks at 1440p. Your setup should handle it fine, especially compared to 1080p where the bottleneck could be more visible. Just don’t expect to hit ultra settings consistently at 90 FPS, but you’ll definitely see a boost with the 9070.

Really? That’s reassuring to hear! I’ve been hitting some stutters already, and I thought it might get worse with the 9070. Do you think those issues would carry over?

Bottlenecks can be overhyped. If you’re not playing at ultra settings, the 9070 should suit your 1440p needs quite well. Just keep in mind that you might experience some hiccups in very demanding games, but for most, you'll have a great experience.
