I primarily game at 1440p (2K) and am starting to rethink my configuration. I'm not really keen on shelling out for the rather pricey current-gen GPUs like those in the RTX 5000 series. I'm also aware that I'll likely need to switch to DDR5 eventually, and the 9800X3D has caught my eye.

If you've got the budget to handle the motherboard and RAM swap along with the CPU upgrade, then go for it! DDR5 and the AM5 platform can really boost performance, but yes, they're typically pricier than the last generation.
