Is Usenet Still Around? Anyone Still Using It?

The text side of Usenet is mostly dead. But if you're looking at the alt.binaries section, it's still huge! Just remember your ISP might not carry all of it, especially the free connections.

Yeah, the big question is—are there any free Usenet providers left? Last I checked, Google shut down their service, so it's pretty slim pickings now.

I miss the good old days! But now it feels like Usenet has turned into a pirate haven. Most of the activity is just people sharing files and fighting off spam.

I still use Usenet, mostly for downloading media. It's not as community-focused as it used to be, but it can be great for fast downloads with the right tools. It's worth looking into if you're into that.

Honestly, it was pretty much killed by spam years ago. I jumped back on a couple of years ago, and it was still flooded with junk. You’d be hard-pressed to find useful discussions anymore.
