Is Windows Defender Enough for Antivirus Protection?

My wife and I manage two small businesses from our home computers, and I've been spending a lot on BitDefender. Some friends mentioned that Windows Defender might be sufficient for our needs. Is having the latest version of Windows enough for security? Also, I use a separate VPN. If I decide to drop BitDefender, could you recommend a good password manager? Thanks!

For the most part, keeping Windows up to date is more crucial than relying solely on antivirus software. Antivirus can slow down your PC, and updates should be focused on fixing actual issues rather than just running them all the time.

What if I’m still on Windows 10? Does that put me at a higher risk?

Yes, Windows Defender is typically enough for regular home use. Since Windows 8, most people who follow basic security practices don’t need to pay for antivirus software anymore. Regarding a password manager, I recommend Bitwarden; it’s reliable and offers a free plan!

Totally agree! Windows Defender works fine unless you're downloading sketchy stuff. Bitwarden is fantastic too, definitely my favorite.

Honestly, I’ve been using Windows Defender since Windows 10 and I can say I've had no issues. If you're careful about not running random downloads, it should serve you well. As for a password manager, you might check out Keeper or Bitwarden!

Thanks! I’ll look into these options, especially Bitwarden.

Windows Defender works fine, but if you’re running a business, you might want to consider Microsoft Defender for Business for added security. Also, an ad blocker can help prevent malware spread through ads!

Good to know! I plan to stick with Defender and just use common sense while browsing.
