Issues with Freezing in Linux Mint Using KDE Plasma

I'm having problems with my Linux Mint setup, specifically when using KDE Plasma. The computer frequently freezes, and it seems related to my dual-boot setup with Windows. I also recently added a second monitor to my motherboard while my main monitor is connected to my GPU. This setup might have caused issues, as my taskbar has stopped auto-hiding since plugging in the second monitor, and now it's positioned on the right side of my screen. My primary monitor is to the left of this second one. For reference, I'm using an Nvidia GTX 1660 graphics card, an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor, and have 32 GB of RAM. When my computer freezes, the audio continues to play, but I can't use my inputs and nothing on the screen moves. I have to perform a hard reset to fix the issue.

It sounds like you might have run into some compatibility issues between Mint and KDE Plasma. A lot of users recommend sticking with a distro that officially supports Plasma, as Mint isn't the best for it. Plus, X11 can be tricky with multi-monitor setups, leading to the problems you're experiencing. You may want to consider reinstalling with a different distro that's KDE-friendly to avoid these hassles. No offense meant; just trying to help you avoid more headaches!

I decided to go with Mint because I've heard it's user-friendly, and I thought Plasma would work fine. I appreciate the insight! Seems like a fresh start might be the move here.

I get your frustration! I tried KDE on Mint too and had to reinstall. I'm currently on Cinnamon and have seen some issues with my multi-monitor as well. It seems like X11 isn't doing anyone any favors!

Always good practice to include your distro and hardware details when asking for help with tech issues. Makes it easier for the community to assist you! Keep in mind that multi-monitor setups can be finicky, and using the right environment can save you a lot of trouble.
