I'm having trouble with my 1TB hard drive. Whenever I try to install anything, it either crashes completely or gives me a "disk write corrupted" error. I haven't used this HDD in a couple of years, so I'm unsure why this is happening. Any ideas?

First off, check how much space is available on your drive. If it's almost full, that might be causing the issues. There’s a chance your HDD could be failing, so it’s a good idea to back up any important files to an external drive, just in case.
If the drive is clear and you're still facing this, it could be a sign of hardware failure or corruption. Running a disk check could help diagnose if there are any bad sectors.
I think you might need to provide more details about the problem. It could help with diagnosing it better.
