My HP EliteBook 745 G6 freezes on the Windows welcome screen after I enabled its integrated AMD Radeon Vega 10 graphics. The graphics adapter was not previously listed normally in Device Manager; I believe Windows was using a Microsoft display driver instead. The problem began while I was trying to install a graphics driver through HP's update utility. How can I recover the laptop and install the correct graphics driver? I need it working for school.

If you cannot reach the recovery menu, interrupt the boot process by turning the laptop on and holding the power button to shut it down once Windows begins loading. Repeat this a few times until Windows enters Automatic Repair, then use the same Safe Mode or System Restore options. A restore point from before the driver change may be the quickest fix.
Try starting Windows in Safe Mode. From the sign-in screen, hold Shift while selecting Restart, then choose Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Restart and select Safe Mode. In Device Manager, open Display adapters, uninstall the AMD graphics device and select the option to remove its driver if available. Restart normally, then install the graphics driver made specifically for the HP EliteBook 745 G6 from HP’s support page. Avoid forcing a generic driver until the system is stable.
