I accidentally plugged my phone charger into my laptop's USB-C port earlier today. The charger brick stopped working, and now I get no sound through either my headphones or the built-in speakers. This USB-C port is for data and audio rather than charging the laptop, since the laptop has a separate charging connector. Is there anything I can try to restore the audio?

A phone charger normally shouldn’t damage a USB-C port because power delivery requires a handshake, and many laptops can safely use compatible phone charging bricks. Still, try a full power reset: shut the laptop down, disconnect everything, hold the power button for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on. A normal restart is worth trying too.
Check whether the operating system still detects the speakers and headphones, and make sure the correct output device is selected. You could also reinstall or update the audio driver and check Device Manager for warnings. If neither output works after that, the USB-C port or audio hardware may have been damaged.
If the laptop’s other USB ports still work, an inexpensive USB audio adapter could provide a workaround for headphones or external speakers. It won’t repair the built-in audio, but it may restore usable sound without replacing the laptop’s motherboard.

Since it’s a laptop, replacing the motherboard isn’t really practical, so a USB audio adapter sounds like the simplest fallback if the reset and driver checks don’t help.
