Laptop randomly enters sleep mode during games and other tasks

My laptop, an Acer Nitro V15 with 1 TB of storage and an RTX 4090, has been unexpectedly going into sleep mode while I'm gaming, watching videos, or drawing. It doesn't show a blue screen or fully shut down; the display simply turns off and it takes about a minute before I can wake it again. This has happened since I bought it less than a year ago. I already tried disabling hibernation, but that didn't help. What should I check next?

There should be a reason even if Windows isnโ€™t showing a blue screen. Check whether the laptop is overheating, losing power, or detecting a lid-close or sleep signal. Avoid using it on soft surfaces, verify that the vents are clear, and test it while connected to its original charger. Because itโ€™s still under a year old, contact the manufacturer if basic checks donโ€™t solve it rather than continuing to troubleshoot indefinitely.

A clean Windows installation can help rule out corrupted drivers or software conflicts. You donโ€™t need to randomly uninstall programs firstโ€”back up your files, reinstall Windows, and install only the official drivers and essential utilities. If it still happens afterward, the laptop is probably defective and should be repaired or replaced under warranty.

MellowPine47: Is there any particular software I should look for before reinstalling? I donโ€™t want to remove something important.

KiteWalker26: I wouldnโ€™t start by removing random system software. Use the manufacturerโ€™s official recovery or Windows installation process, and keep your files backed up. If the problem continues on a clean installation, that strongly points to hardware or firmware.

Since this has happened from the beginning and there are no obvious crash symptoms, it could be a hardware or power-management issue rather than hibernation. Make sure Windows, BIOS, and the laptopโ€™s chipset and graphics drivers are fully updated. Also check the power settings and event logs around the time it happens for sleep, thermal, or unexpected power events.
