I was watching a movie through an HDMI connection when my Asus UX430 running Windows 11 went to sleep. After waking it, the built-in laptop display stopped showing anything, although external monitors still work normally. This happened once before, and I remember fixing it by re-enabling the internal display in software. I'm fairly sure it isn't a hardware problem, but I can't remember which setting restored the screen.

Open Settings, go to System > Display, and check whether display 1—the built-in panel—is greyed out or marked as disconnected. Select it and change the display option from “Disconnect this display” to “Extend desktop to this display.” If it already appears enabled, open Device Manager, uninstall the display adapter driver, and restart Windows so the driver can be detected and installed again.

I’ve already tried those steps, including reinstalling the display driver. I’m comfortable troubleshooting, but this also happened last year and I remember there was another setting or shortcut that brought the internal screen back.
