My Lenovo laptop's built-in camera suddenly stopped working. I hadn't used it for several months, and when I opened the camera today, Windows reported that it couldn't detect the camera. What could be causing this, and what should I check to fix it?

The camera module may have failed, or its internal flex cable could be loose or damaged. First, check Device Manager to see whether the webcam is disabled or missing. If it doesn’t appear at all, the issue may be a disconnected cable or faulty camera hardware.

Check for a physical privacy shutter or a keyboard function key with a crossed-out camera icon. On some Lenovo models, the shutter or Fn-key shortcut can electrically disable the webcam, so the system won’t detect it until it’s switched back on.
