I have a Lenovo P340 Tiny running Windows 11 that has been in use for about four years. Earlier this week, I used Lenovo Vantage to install several driver updates, including a graphics driver, and then installed a BIOS update separately. The updates appeared to complete normally, but after the reboot the monitor stays completely black. If I force the machine to shut down, it powers off briefly and then immediately starts back up with the lights and fan running.
I've tried booting into Safe Mode, switching between the Mini DisplayPort outputs, and moving the drive between its slots before returning it to the original slot. I'm considering disconnecting the CMOS/button-cell battery, but it's difficult to access because the fan has to be removed first, and its small connector is firmly attached. This is a company computer, so although I have permission to inspect it, I'd rather not force any connectors or make things worse.
Could the BIOS update have corrupted the firmware or changed a setting, and what is the safest way to recover the system?

Because this is a company-owned machine, the safest route is to have the organization’s IT support or hardware service handle the recovery. Clearing CMOS may reset settings, but it usually won’t repair firmware that was damaged during an update, and forcing the buried connector could cause physical damage. If remote support is the only option, send them the exact model and BIOS version and ask whether they can walk you through the approved recovery method.
Since the failure started immediately after the BIOS update, the first thing to try is Lenovo’s official BIOS recovery procedure for this model. A failed or incomplete firmware update can produce a black screen before Windows even starts. Use the exact BIOS package for the P340 Tiny and follow Lenovo’s recovery instructions carefully, ideally from another computer and with the machine connected to reliable power. The updates were requested by my manager, who handles our local IT needs, but I’m working remotely and the computer is in another province, so nobody can inspect it in person right now.
