Looking for a Budget-Friendly GPU Upgrade for My Entry-Level Gaming PC

Hey everyone! I'm new to PC gaming and I recently bought my first setup. Here are the specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i5 2400
- GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 (1GB)
- Storage: 1TB HDD
- Motherboard: B75 Viprtech
- Cooling: Viprtech Intel cooler
- RAM: 8GB DDR3
- OS: Windows 10
- PSU: 500W
- SSD: 2TB

I want to upgrade my graphics card to enhance my gaming experience, but I'm not sure what affordable options would work well with my system. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Also, I have some confusion around DDR3 and DDR4 – my friends say I can only use DDR3. And sorry if my questions seem basic; I've only had this PC for about 4-5 months and I'm really still learning about upgrades and maintenance! Thanks in advance!

You might want to look for a used RX 580 (8GB) or a GTX 1060 (6GB). Both are great options that would easily max out your i5 2400 without breaking the bank!

I'm new to PC gaming—does maxing out mean I might ruin something?
