Looking for a Headset That Combines Great Music Quality with Gaming Performance

I currently have an old Razer Kraken V3 Hypersense but I'm not really enjoying it anymore. While I'm not a hardcore audiophile, I do appreciate good sound, especially since I play guitar and listen to a variety of music. I'm on the hunt for a headset that not only sounds excellent for music but also performs well in competitive gaming—specifically, I want clarity for footsteps and good imaging. I've heard the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 (with EQ) might be okay, but I'm curious if there are any gaming headsets that can deliver sound quality close to studio headphones. Also, while I've read positive things about the Audeze Maxwell, I'm hesitant about the weight, as I don't want something too heavy on my head. Any recommendations would be super helpful!

Honestly, if you're looking for solid sound quality, you might want to skip gaming headsets entirely. Studio headphones generally outperform gaming ones, especially in terms of audio fidelity. If wireless is a must, consider non-gaming options like Bose or Sony for good quality without compromising sound. Sennheiser has a model, the HBD630, which you can use with a special adapter for better audio quality if you really want that Bluetooth functionality.

You might want to check out the HyperX Cloud IIs. They're pretty popular and do offer decent sound for both gaming and music. Just make sure to set up a custom EQ to get the most out of them!

Do you own one? If yes, what custom EQ settings do you use?
