I'm on the hunt for a local storage device to offload some data from my iPhone. I recently tried the Sandisk iXpand flash drive, which worked well, but it doesn't offer a way to password protect the entire drive. While there is an option to encrypt a file on the drive, I'm unable to preview any content within that encrypted file. Does anyone have suggestions for other storage devices that allow for password protection while letting me access and preview the files easily? Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, you can’t password protect the entire drive itself; typically, it’s the individual files you can secure. With your iPhone, if you format a drive using a Mac, it can support password protection through APFS formatting.

Got it! So if I connect the drive to my Mac and set a password for a file, I should be able to access it on my iPhone afterward and preview the media? That sounds helpful!
