Looking for Advice on Upgrading My Graphics Card

Hey everyone! I'm currently using an i7 8700K processor running at 3.7GHz, with 32GB of DDR4 RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card. I'm considering upgrading to either the RTX 9060 or the RTX 9070. While I think the 9070 would be a better choice for future-proofing, I'm worried my CPU might hold it back. What do you all think? Any recommendations?

In general, get the best GPU you can afford! Even if you're not upgrading the CPU right away, the 9070 will serve you well over time. Just remember that no card is truly future-proof, so a good investment will last 4-6 years before needing an upgrade.

If you plan on sticking with your i7 for a while longer, the 9060 is a better option. But if you’re planning a CPU upgrade shortly after, then go for the 9070 to future-proof your rig.

The 9070 is indeed powerful, but you might face some bottlenecking with your CPU. If you're on a budget, maybe consider grabbing the 9060 XT now and then looking to upgrade your CPU soon. It’s a nice balance!

I’d definitely recommend going for the 9070! It's a solid GPU that will last for years. Just keep in mind that your current CPU won’t let you unlock its full potential, but that’s okay! You can always upgrade the CPU later for even better performance.

Don’t forget about performance smoothness! Higher FPS doesn’t always mean a better experience if the frame pacing isn’t there. It might feel choppy on more CPU-intensive games, so consider upgrading both components eventually.
