Looking for Alternatives to Azure’s Cost Management Tools

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some recommendations for cost management tools as I've found Azure's native solutions too complex for our resource owners. We need something that offers dashboarding and automated reporting so that our resource and subscription owners can easily see their spending and forecast future costs. Right now, we're considering Turbo360, but I've heard it can get quite pricey depending on overall Azure expenditure. What tools do you use that work well for you, and what value do they bring? I'd really appreciate any insights! Thanks! - Athy

I’d recommend checking out the FinOps hub toolkit. It has some great features for managing costs effectively. You can find it on GitHub!

If you're after something more visual than Azure's built-in options, CloudHealth or Harness might be the way to go. After I switched from Azure's tools to Harness, I saved about $20k in wasted resources in just the first month. The native tools are okay for smaller setups though.

I’ve heard Vantage.sh is pretty good too. You might want to check that out!

Azure's Cost Management is decent, but I created a PowerShell script that pulls cost data using the Management API based on tags and sends it over to SharePoint for invoicing. Plus, setting up budget alerts in the Azure portal helps a lot. Consider giving users restricted access to view costs for their specific subscriptions too!

Hey, I'm building a tool called Strato Lens that I'm currently beta testing! It's free for now, and it has some cool features beyond just cost management. If you’d like, you can join our Discord from the website for beta testing feedback!

If your budget allows, take a look at the Azure FinOps toolkit. It breaks down costs by subscription or resource group and provides detailed reports. For larger billing sums, you could utilize Data Explorer and ADX dashboards. We transitioned to DataDog CCM for its excellent multi-cloud reporting, though it can be pricey, charging a percentage of your annual cloud spend.
