Looking for CPU Upgrade Suggestions for Gaming

I've been using my PC for three years, and I'm starting to feel like my Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700F is getting outdated. Lately, I've been maxing out during gaming sessions—especially in Fortnite—where I'm only hitting around 60 fps on low settings, and I keep experiencing freezes and lag. I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, 16GB of RAM, and a Gigabyte H310M S2H motherboard. I've heard about 'bottlenecking' and want to ensure I choose a CPU that matches well with my current setup. While I don't have a specific budget in mind, I'd appreciate any recommendations for good gaming CPUs, as well as any advice since I'm pretty new to upgrading parts. Thanks for your help!

Honestly, your setup isn’t terrible. It could still perform decently. Have you tried a clean install of Windows? Sometimes that can really help. Also, check the CPU and GPU usage while gaming; my guess is your CPU is getting maxed out. If you're seeing it spike to 100% while gaming, that could be the culprit!

I did a clean install recently on a new SSD and it improved my performance significantly! In Fortnite, my CPU usage is around 60-70% when idle but spikes to 100% during action, while my GPU hovers around 10-30%. Definitely feeling the strain!

I recommend looking at CPUs like the Intel i5-12400F or even the i5-14600K. They're great for gaming, and you can keep your DDR4 RAM. Just make sure to pair it with a compatible DDR4 motherboard, such as a B760. It should give you a nice performance boost!

Thanks so much! I'll check those out!
