Hi there! I've been a Mac user for the last 15 years but recently switched to a gaming rig with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an ASUS GeForce RTX 5070. I know the monitor can really impact gaming quality, so I'm looking to upgrade from my current LG monitor, which is 2160p at 60 Hz. I want something with a higher refresh rate. Should I go for a 1440p at 144 Hz, or a 2160p at 144 Hz? Any recommendations would be awesome! 😊

It really depends on the types of games you enjoy! If you're into AAA story-driven games, going 4K could be worth it. However, if you prefer competitive gameplay, I recommend a 1440p monitor—especially if you can find a model that offers up to 240 Hz.
Make sure to check the cable port specifications. Currently, HDMI 2.1 is the best option, allowing 4K SDR at 160 Hz. If you're considering HDR, just be aware that you'll need the DSC feature, which compresses the signal. As a bit of a purist, I find that a tad annoying.
The 5070 isn't really a powerhouse for 4K gaming. A good OLED or mini LED monitor at 1440p would be a fantastic choice for your setup—it’ll give you great visuals without pushing your GPU too hard.
So 1440p is the way to go? How big of a difference will I notice in graphics? Also, any monitor suggestions in the $200-$400 range?

I'm mostly playing Arc Raiders and WoW Classic, plus I dabble in League of Legends and try out new games. What do you think would suit me best?
