Looking for Guidance on My First Gaming PC Build

I'm building my first gaming PC and could use some help choosing the right components. I've done my research and found parts I think will suit my gaming needs. My budget is around $700, and though I found parts that come to about $1028, I'm unsure if I need any extra components aside from what I've listed. I'm not aiming for top-tier performance, just something that can handle some esports titles like Valorant and CS2 at 150-250 FPS, popular shooters like Fortnite and Apex at 90-140 FPS, and can run some AAA titles like Elden Ring and AC Valhalla at 60-90 FPS. Here's what I'm looking at:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core Processor ($159.99)
- Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard ($94.99)
- Memory: Silicon Power GAMING 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($96.97)
- Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2 NVME SSD ($176.90)
- Video Card: MSI ARMOR OC GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB Video Card ($379.00)
- Case: Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.88)
- Power Supply: MSI MAG A650BN 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($60.34)

I appreciate any feedback or recommendations on this build!

I wouldn't recommend buying that GTX 1080 for $379—it’s overpriced. You could get a 5060 for the same price. If you’re looking for a balance of performance and cost, modern GPUs like the GTX 5050 or the Intel Arc B580 would serve you better. Just a heads up, a 500GB SSD is quite limiting; a single modern game can take up nearly all that space. Aim for at least 1TB if you can swing it!

Those parts seem a bit dated, especially for a new build. If you have the option to buy used, it might make sense, but I'd suggest looking at newer components. The GTX 5050 or Intel Arc B580 could give you similar performance with more longevity. And yes, definitely go for a 1TB SSD; you'll thank yourself later when you want more storage for bigger games.
