Looking for PC Upgrade Advice!

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC setup that I've been using for about five years. I'm not super knowledgeable about PC builds, especially with all the new GPUs and CPUs coming out. My budget is pretty tight, but I can save for each component. My current setup is:

- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: 1080 Ti
- RAM: 2x8Gb 3600MHz
- PSU: 750W Bronze
- Motherboard: B550 Gaming Gen3
- Monitor: 1080p

I'm thinking about upgrading the GPU first to a 4070 Ti and the RAM to 2x16Gb 3600MHz. I know my CPU and PSU will need an upgrade afterward, and then I want to get a new monitor. I realize that the CPU might bottleneck the GPU, but I'm hoping it'll hold on until I can save up more.

So, I have a few questions:
1) Should I really upgrade my GPU first, or is there a better order to do this?
2) Will having a Ryzen 5 3600 with a 4070 Ti lead to major issues when gaming? Can it sustain okay while I save for a CPU upgrade? I usually play Dota and I'm looking to start gaming on titles like Cyberpunk and Sekiro.
3) Are there other GPU recommendations instead of the 4070 Ti?

Any insights would be super helpful since I'm feeling pretty lost with all the info I've found online. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, the 1080 Ti is still a decent card! If you're not in a rush, consider upgrading your CPU and RAM first. Jumping to an AM5 socket and getting 32GB RAM could make your system feel a lot snappier and set you up better for future GPU upgrades. You might want to check out an AMD 9600; it’s a solid choice for your budget right now!

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely look into that CPU. Would it be a good long-term option as I upgrade my GPU later on?

Upgrading your GPU first is usually a good move, especially for most modern games. However, if you’re planning to play titles like Tarkov, you might hit a performance wall with your current CPU. For the most part, though, many games will benefit more from a better GPU right now.

As for your CPU and GPU combination, it might not cause massive issues unless you’re hitting CPU-intensive games, but you could expect lower performance in those cases. If you’re really focused on getting 60 FPS or higher in demanding games, keep in mind that the Ryzen 5 3600 could hold you back a bit. For your next GPU, if you’re looking beyond the 4070 Ti, consider the RTX 4070 or even the AMD RX 6800. Both can give you good performance without hitting your budget too hard.
