Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my old Ryzen 7 2700X, which has served me well, but I think it's time for a change. I'm primarily a gamer, but I also dabble in some modeling work. Currently, I'm using an RX 7800 XT GPU. What AM4 CPU would you suggest for a replacement? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

The 5800XT is solid if you can find it. Just a heads up, updating your BIOS can really help with compatibility before you switch CPUs!
It really depends on your budget, but I'd recommend the Ryzen 5700X or 5800X if you can find a good deal. Just make sure to update your motherboard's BIOS first, and consider getting a better CPU cooler if you're still using the stock one.
For a budget-friendly option, the 5500X3D or 5600X is a great choice. But if you're looking for top-tier gaming performance, the 5700X3D or 5800X3D is the way to go, although they can be a bit pricey right now.
If you want a balance between gaming and productivity, I’d go for the Ryzen 5900X. It's got 16 cores for great multitasking. But if you’re purely focused on gaming, the 5500X3D is perfect with its 6 cores and extra L3 cache.
X3D models are getting harder to find since they've been discontinued, but the 5800XT would still be the best upgrade for AM4 CPUs available right now.

The performance boost with the 5500X3D can be huge! Some tests show an average increase of around 70% in frame rates compared to the 2700X. It's definitely something to consider if you're gaming a lot!
