I'm working on a project to create my own anti-virus software and I'm looking for safe, non-harmful viruses to use for testing purposes. I've already tested with EICAR, which is a standard test file, but I'd like to know if there are any other options out there.

EICAR is great, but you can also create your own harmless test strings that your anti-virus can recognize. This could give you more control over what you want to test for.
