Looking for SSD Recommendations for Gaming

I'm in the market for a new SSD because I'm running low on storage and I want to use it specifically for gaming. Ideally, I'd like to keep the budget around $100. My friend mentioned that I have a SATA slot but no M.2 slot, which I'm a bit clueless about. He suggested getting a 2TB SSD from Kingspec or a 1TB Samsung 870 EVO, but I've come across a lot of mixed reviews on Kingspec, so I'm not sure what to do.

If you're limited to SATA, the Samsung 870 EVO is a solid choice for gaming. It's reliable and performs great for the price. The MX500 is another good option if you're open to checking used ones; I've had consistent results with those drives too. Just make sure your motherboard really doesn’t support M.2 because that would give you better options, but it sounds like you're all set with SATA for now.

Check out what motherboard you have to confirm if there's an M.2 slot. If you're not sure, you can find out using a simple guide: just press Win + R, type msinfo32, and hit Enter. Look for the BaseBoard Manufacturer and Product. If M.2 isn't an option, definitely go with a Samsung SSD like the 860 or 870; they are both very reliable for storage.

While the Samsung 870 EVO is a great pick, I'd be cautious about Kingspec; some of their products have a reputation for mixed reviews. If you just need solid performance and reliability, sticking with well-reviewed brands like Samsung is your best bet. Don’t forget to double-check your motherboard, though.
