Looking for the Perfect Linux Distro for Gaming and Stability

Hey everyone! I've been diving into the world of Linux for a few months and picked up some knowledge, but I'm still trying to get a clearer picture of which distros might be best suited for me. So far, I've tried Linux Mint and Nobara Linux, but I'm ready for a new long-term option.

My laptop is a Lenovo LOQ 15irh8 with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12450H processor (8 cores) and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Max-Q GPU. I've hit some gaming issues that feel hardware-related, like slow loading times in Far Cry 5 due to how it interacts with Hyper-Threading.

I'm searching for a distro that:
* Works reliably with my hardware
* Supports both X11 and Wayland since I play a lot of classic games, stability is key
* Has great documentation for troubleshooting because honestly, I want to figure things out myself before asking for help.

Can anyone recommend a fitting distro?

Gaming can be tough on Linux, especially with compatibility layers like Wine. Sometimes, what seems like a software issue can be rooted in hardware settings. Your Far Cry issue might stem from the number of CPU cores; disabling Hyper-Threading in the BIOS might actually help, as that's worked for me in the past. It's all about trial and error, but keep your backups handy!

I’ve heard about turning off Hyper-Threading being helpful before, but did you face any other challenges while gaming on Linux? Just trying to gather more tips!

Finding the right balance between gaming and stability can be tricky in the Linux world. You might want to give Ubuntu or Fedora a shot as both have fantastic documentation and a wide support base for gaming. They've also got solid stability. Linux Mint and Nobara are good starts, but Ubuntu, in particular, has a ton of resources for troubleshooting issues you might encounter.
