Hey all! I recently got my hands on an older prebuilt Corsair PC from a friend, and while it runs fine, I'm looking to make some upgrades to enhance my gaming experience. To be honest, I'm mainly a console gamer, but I do enjoy gaming on PC from time to time. My goal isn't to spend a fortune on this upgrade since I don't game on PC all that often. Right now, the setup includes dual GTX 980s and an Intel i7 7700K with 16GB of RAM. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the best upgrade options and if you have any specific recommendations for components. Any advice is welcome!

How much did you pick it up for? Just curious! Adding another 16GB of RAM and a new GPU could be a solid plan. You might find decent deals on used 3070 or 3080 cards, but if you’re looking for new options, the 5060 Ti and 9060XT are solid choices for 1080p gaming.
Considering your setup is a bit outdated, a major overhaul might be necessary to see a big performance boost. What’s your budget for upgrades? Also, I'd suggest installing HWInfo64 to check your system specs—having that info would really help out.
First off, make sure your PC has an SSD if it doesn’t already. I’d recommend replacing the SLI GPUs with a single new card like a 9060XT or 5060 Ti, then look into upgrading your CPU too. You can keep your DDR4 RAM and go for a 5600/5600X or similar, which should give you a good balance between cost-effectiveness and performance.

I got it for pretty cheap—like a case of beer and 20 bucks!
