I've been facing a frustrating problem with my mouse freezing random for 1 to 2 seconds. During these freezes, no mouse movements or clicks register. If I'm holding down a button, it will continue to register as pressed even if I let go. Once the freeze ends, my cursor jumps to where it would have been if the freeze hadn't happened. This can occur anywhere from a few seconds apart to an hour in between. While restarting my PC provides temporary relief, the issue becomes more frequent the longer my computer is on. It seems to happen more during gaming, but I've noticed it on the desktop too. Years ago, I experienced a similar issue with a different mouse and motherboard, and while I fixed it somehow, I can't recall what I did. I found someone online who reported the same problem and fixed it with a motherboard firmware update, which I tried too, but it didn't help. In my motherboard's BIOS, I've noticed that the mouse freezes coincide with the temperature and fan speed updates on the monitor tab. This leads me to believe something is off with the motherboard or the operating system rather than the mouse itself. I've attempted multiple fixes, including driver reinstalls, changing USB ports, BIOS updates, and power settings. My next guess is a bug in the motherboard firmware, but I'm unsure how to resolve that. Any thoughts or suggestions would really help!

It sounds like you’ve done a lot of troubleshooting already! I’d suggest making sure the monitoring page in your BIOS isn’t just coincidental to the issue. If it doesn't freeze outside that page, it might not be the root. Also, just to be thorough, have you tried testing your mouse on another PC or using a different mouse on your PC to rule out hardware issues? You could also boot from a live Ubuntu USB to see if the freezing persists in a different OS. Did your Windows reinstall go smoothly? What version are you using? Let me know how the Ubuntu test goes!
