MSI Gaming Laptop Connects to Some Sites but Not Windows Services

My MSI GT62VR 6RE Dominator Pro has a strange internet problem. Websites and some apps work normally, but built-in Windows services such as the Microsoft Store and Outlook cannot connect. I've tried command Prompt and PowerShell fixes, reinstalling the network drivers, running the Windows network troubleshooter, and factory-resetting the laptop several times, but the issue remains. The problem also occurs on other home Wi-Fi networks, not just mine. I'm using an Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 160MHz adapter and a Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, both showing as up to date. I haven't tested a wired Ethernet connection yet. What else should I check?

Since the problem follows the laptop onto other Wi-Fi networks, it probably isn’t your home router. Check Windows proxy settings and make sure no manual proxy or VPN configuration is enabled. You could also try setting DNS manually, but because the Microsoft Store and Outlook are affected while some websites work, a Windows configuration or service issue seems more likely than a weak signal.

An external Wi-Fi adapter not fixing it makes a faulty internal card less likely. The next useful test is a completely different network path, such as Ethernet or a phone hotspot. That will help separate a laptop-wide Windows problem from an issue with the wireless connection or adapter.

I did try another external antenna, but it had the same result. I’ll test with Ethernet or a hotspot next.

Try connecting through Ethernet if possible. If Windows services work over a wired connection, that points toward a Wi-Fi adapter, driver, or wireless configuration problem. If the same services fail over Ethernet, the issue is more likely inside Windows itself, such as proxy settings, DNS, certificates, or a damaged system component.

I haven’t tested Ethernet yet, but I’ll try it to see whether the problem happens on a wired connection too.
