I came home from school today and found my cat lounging on my laptop. Now, when I try to turn it on, it shows a "no bootable device" message. I'm not sure what happened or what I can do to fix this. Can anyone help?

It sounds like the hard drive might have been knocked loose by your cat. If you're comfortable doing so, open up your laptop and check if the hard drive is properly connected. Sometimes a simple reconnection can do the trick!
Make sure to check the BIOS settings to see if the hard drive shows up there. If not, there’s a good chance it could be malfunctioning. Just turn off the laptop, pop off the back panel, and give the drive a check – it might just need a little adjustment!
Honestly, if the cat didn’t move the laptop but you still see that error, it could be an issue with the hard drive itself. Evaluating its connection could help determine if you need a replacement.
Thanks for the tips! I’m hoping it’s just a loose connection and not a dead hard drive.

I had the same issue once! It turned out my hard drive was just slightly loose, and once I secured it, everything worked fine again.
