I've been using this Apple charger for about a year, and recently I've noticed that the top of the plug seems to be melting a bit. It smells like burnt plastic and looks kind of dented. Right now, I can't afford to replace it, and Google only suggests tossing it. But it's the only charger that works for my phone! How dangerous is this situation? Will it harm me if I keep using it? I could really use a second opinion beyond just a Google search!

If your charger is melting, that's a sign that it's overheating—and overheating can lead to a fire. It's best to stop using it immediately for your safety.

Fair enough! That’s all I needed to hear. I guess I’ll look for other ways to charge my phone. I’ll try connecting it to my PC overnight or something.
