My computer screen has a growing light line – what’s going on?

I was using my computer when suddenly the screen went black. At first, I was just confused, but then I noticed a small line in one corner of the screen. It looked like a crack, but when I touched it, it turned out to be a line of light that keeps getting bigger whenever I touch it, and now my computer won't turn on. Can anyone help me understand what's going on or suggest how to fix it?
