My Hard Drive Won't Be Detected After Upgrade – What Should I Check?

After upgrading my PC's storage with an old hard drive from another computer, I noticed that when I powered it on the next day, my existing hard drive wasn't being detected anymore. I'm not sure what went wrong. What should I check to troubleshoot this issue?
