I used the original charger that came with my Infinix laptop to charge my son's phone. I believe it is rated at around 45 watts. Afterward, the charger stopped working for both the phone and the laptop. I've restarted the laptop and tried a different mains outlet, but there's still no power. Is there anything else I should test before replacing the charger?

Charging a USB-C phone with a laptop charger is normally safe if the charger supports USB Power Delivery. The charger and phone negotiate the voltage and power, so the phone only draws what it needs. Check the wall outlet, the cable, and the charger’s indicator light if it has one. If the charger fails with both devices and a known-good cable and outlet, it may simply have failed and should be replaced with a compatible USB-C PD charger that matches the laptop’s required wattage.
A 45-watt charger may not be the correct replacement if the laptop requires 65 watts. Look at the label on the original adapter or the laptop’s specifications and buy a reputable charger with the same output voltage, connector, and at least the required wattage. Avoid using a damaged, overheated, or visibly burned adapter.
