My Laptop’s dGPU Failed — Can I Switch to iGPU?

I have a laptop with a mux switch that was set to use the NVIDIA dedicated GPU. Unfortunately, the GPU seems to be fried. Now when I turn it on, the laptop is unresponsive for a few seconds, starts the fans at full speed for a while, and then powers down completely. Is there any way to switch it to integrated GPU mode, or is my laptop just totally dead?

You might want to check your laptop's manual or the BIOS settings. Some laptops allow you to switch the graphics mode from there. If your laptop is a Legion Y540, try booting into BIOS and see if you can change it to iGPU mode. Keep in mind that if the dGPU is completely fried, you might still face issues even if you switch modes.

Yeah, I've heard BIOS can sometimes help with these things. Just make sure to reset the BIOS if things seem off after switching it.
