I've noticed that my MacBook charger makes a crackling sound when I plug it into a socket. Although I've tried it in different ports and the crackling is less frequent, it still happens a bit. I've also plugged in other devices into the same port, and they don't make any noise. I suspect there might be an issue with both the charger and the port. I even made a quick video to showcase the noise. What can I do about this? Thanks for your help!

That's definitely not a good sign. You should seriously consider getting a new charger.
I'd recommend replacing it for sure. Also, if you haven’t already, try using a grounded cable instead of the ungrounded prongs; it might help.
From the video, it looks like the charger fits too loosely in the socket. You may want to check if your surge protector needs replacing too.
I agree, take it back and ask for an exchange. But seriously, stop using it for now; it could potentially damage your MacBook or even lead to a fire hazard.
It sounds like some electrical connections might be loose and shorting out. You definitely need to replace it, and since it's fairly new, they should swap it out for free. It’d be a good idea to take your MacBook with you to show them what’s happening.

Are you sure? I just got this charger three months ago! Is it safe to keep using it or could it cause a fire?
