My MacBook suddenly rejects a password that used to work

I've been using the same password on my MacBook all summer without any issues, but it suddenly started saying the password is incorrect. I entered it slowly several times, tried a couple of possible variations, and now I'm locked out for about an hour. Restarting the Mac and trying Command-R didn't help. The Mac uses Apple silicon, and I have a Czech keyboard layout enabled, so I'm wondering whether the layout is changing the characters I'm entering or affecting recovery options. What should I try next?

First, verify what the Mac is actually receiving from the keyboard. If possible, type the password into a visible username or text field and compare every character, paying special attention to Czech-specific characters, symbols, capitalization, and the keyboard layout. A wired external keyboard can also help rule out a hardware or layout problem. On an Apple-silicon Mac, recovery is entered by shutting it down completely and holding the power button until the startup options appear, rather than relying on Command-R. If the password is definitely correct but still rejected, check whether the account password may have been changed and confirm that you can access the Apple Account associated with the Mac.
