My Nintendo Switch Got Washed – Can I Save It or at Least My Data?

I accidentally washed my Nintendo Switch, and now I'm in a panic about what to do. I don't have cloud backups, and I've got so many memories on there. Can anyone suggest some ways to possibly salvage either the console or my saved data? I'm really worried about losing everything!

If you're comfortable with it, you might want to take the console apart and clean the internal components with isopropanol and a toothbrush. Make sure to let everything dry for several days afterwards. Just a heads up, using electrical contact cleaner is a better option since it won’t have water in it. Also, if possible, disconnect the battery during the process.

First off, don't panic! You should definitely avoid powering it on until it’s completely dry. One method is to use warm air to help dry it out, but be gentle. Allow it to sit for a couple of days, and try to be patient before you try to turn it on again.

If you had an SD card in your Switch, that’s your best bet for saving your data. SD cards are usually pretty resilient and should be alright, so you might want to check that first!
