Hey everyone! I've had this PC for about five years now and have only upgraded my graphics card to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super. I'm looking for help on what else to upgrade because I'm experiencing significant performance issues. I can barely run Ark on medium or low settings, and my PC freezes when I try to multitask, like opening Opera while gaming. My budget for upgrades is around $1000. Here are the specs of my system:
- **CPU:** Intel Core i7-12700F (12th Gen, 12C/20T)
- **GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12 GB
- **Motherboard:** MSI PRO B760-P WiFi DDR4 (MS-7D98)
- **RAM:** 32 GB (2x16 GB) DDR4, running at 3200 MHz
- **Cooler:** Dual-tower air cooler (Thermalright)
- **Storage:** NVMe M.2 SSD (1 TB)
- **PSU:** 1500 W Platinum ATX12VO
- **Case:** Mid-tower with tempered glass side panel
- **OS:** Windows 11 Pro
I'd really appreciate any recommendations for upgrades or troubleshooting tips!

Make sure you did a clean uninstall of drivers when you switched GPUs; a tool like DDU could be really helpful here. Also, I’d recommend running Windows diagnostics on your RAM just to ensure everything’s good there.
I faced something similar—freezes after alt-tabbing. I ended up changing almost every component, and the power supply was the last straw. If you can, consider upgrading to a new PSU or your motherboard to support DDR5; it could make a difference!
Your PC is a powerhouse! I run a similar setup with no problems. Maybe it’s a software issue; have you switched browsers to see if that helps with performance?
Yeah, it's Ark Raiders that I’m playing. I'm just baffled by the freezing problem.
You might want to reseat your GPU and RAM. Sometimes, issues like freezing can stem from bad RAM or even a loose SSD connection. It's worth checking those out!
Thanks, I'll definitely try that!
Your setup looks pretty solid, so it seems like something else is causing the issues. Have you tried updating your BIOS or GPU drivers? Also, consider what games you're playing; that might help pinpoint the problem.
Yeah, I've updated both! But my PC struggles with multitasking. I'm mainly playing Ark, Cyberpunk 2, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Those prices are crazy right now! I'm thinking about a DDR5 motherboard and new RAM but not sure if I need to switch the PSU.
