My PC Keeps Restarting and CS2 Crashes – What Should I Do?

Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue where Counter-Strike 2 crashes frequently during gameplay, and now my entire PC is restarting with a black screen. My hardware is fairly new, with components being a maximum of 2 years old. Here's what I have:

- Intel i9-12900KF processor
- MSI Z790 Max motherboard
- Corsair 360 AIO cooler (temps are decent, hitting 70s at the peak)
- 32 GB DDR5 RAM
- RTX 5070 graphics card paired with a Lian Li vertical mount 5.0 riser
- MSI MPG 1000A power supply

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like a power delivery issue. If you’re using the PCIe to 12VHPWR adapter, make sure you’re connecting individual PCIe feeds to each socket rather than using a daisy chain cable meant for older GPUs. Also, check Event Viewer on Windows right before the crash – it can give you insights about what might be failing, possibly driver issues or power problems.

Interesting, I’m seeing Windows errors along with CS2 issues too. Might just have to wipe Windows and see if that helps.

Reboots and crashes are often caused by power, thermal issues, or system instability. Use HWInfo64 to monitor all temps, power, and voltages. It's also good to run stability tests through OCCT, especially focusing on memory, power, and GPU. Since I have an MSI motherboard, I recommend trying Buildzoid's heat-reducing settings. Make sure your CPU voltage and load line are set correctly. If you're using that adapter, double-check that your cables are all properly connected.

I'm running HWInfo while gaming; my average GPU temp is around 60C and 70C max for the CPU. Seems fine to me!

By the way, I had an old 13900K that was dying.

I’m using the native cable from the PSU too, it clicks perfectly into both the GPU and the PSU. But with my other PC, I have to mess around to get the cable into the 4080.
