My PC Keeps Stopping and the Monitors Go Black – Help!

I've been having a frustrating issue with my computer where it just stops working, the monitors disconnect, and the GPU fans shut off. It seems like one of the main problems was that my GPU fans would stop running to prevent overheating. I've never really cleaned my PC, and now it's becoming more problematic. I'm getting a can of compressed air tomorrow to try to clean it out. I'm worried that this might be more serious than just dust buildup.

I've been using MSI Afterburner to crank my fans up to 100% to keep the PC cool and avoid black screens, but it doesn't seem to help anymore, and I'm still getting these black screens. I can only keep a browser open now; even smaller games like MISERY won't run. I'm really scared that it's too late for compressed air and that it won't solve the issue. Can anyone share some ideas or suggestions? Please explain it in simple terms, as I only know the basics!

First things first, have you checked your power supply wattage? An inadequate power supply can cause your computer to shut down suddenly or lead to component failure. If you’re not sure how to check this, usually it’s written on the side of the PSU inside your case. Also, cleaning out dust can help a lot, so definitely go ahead with the compressed air. Make sure to blow it out from all the fans and heatsinks! Just don’t forget to ground yourself before touching any components.

Yeah, cleaning is key! Just be sure to do it carefully. Also, think about checking your thermal paste on the CPU/GPU if you’re comfortable. Sometimes, it just needs to be reapplied after a while.
