My Samsung Smart TV Struggles with Streaming – Any Fixes or Suggestions?

I've got this Samsung UE43CU7100KXXU, a 43" 4K smart TV that's less than two years old, and it's been giving me serious trouble with streaming. Despite having a 1gbps internet connection, apps like YouTube keep buffering and crashing, Channel 4 won't even load, and I keep getting 'unexpected errors' with Prime Video. I've already tried updating the firmware and reinstalling all the apps, but nothing seems to work. Are affordable smart TVs just not equipped for streaming? Would getting an external streaming device like an Amazon Firestick be a good solution to these issues? The TV works fine for regular TV, but the apps just won't cooperate. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I highly recommend using a Firestick. That’s what I did when I got my LG TV, and it worked wonders. Just plug it in and you should see a huge difference in app performance.

Definitely check if your Wi-Fi signal is strong at the TV's location. You can use a phone or laptop to run a speed test while near the TV. If your signal is fine, then getting a dedicated streaming device is a smart move. Smart TVs, especially Samsung models, can get overloaded with all the background tasks and analytics, which often slows down the apps.

It might be worth trying a factory reset on your TV. Sometimes that can clear up weird issues. Also, make sure to give it a minute after turning it on to fully boot up before using the apps.

Honestly, built-in apps on TVs are often not that great. I'd suggest going for a Roku or a Firestick, ideally something hardwired to your network. My preference is for Google TV-based devices; they tend to have a cleaner interface and are less cluttered with ads.

Getting an external streaming device like a Firestick could really help, especially if the issues are app-related. But if your internet connection isn't stable, you might run into the same problems even with a new device. It's worth checking your TV's internet speed compared to other devices nearby to see if that’s where the issue lies.
